What are porcelain veneers?
Porcelain veneers are a cosmetic treatment whereby a thin piece of porcelain is bonded to the lip surface of the anterior tooth. It is used when the tooth is discolored, chipped for malformed. Porcelain veneers are a very conservative treatment where a minimal amount of natural tooth structure is removed. Typically only 0.5-1.0mm of tooth structure is removed. This allows for the placement of the veneer which restores the tooth to the ideal shape and color.
Will they look like normal teeth?
When bonded to the teeth, the thin porcelain veneers are virtually undetectable. Unlike composite filling material, porcelain veneers do not stain or discolor.
